amfelt download

Download the latest agent binary.

Download the amfelt binary for the current OS and architecture from the Amfelt API, verify its SHA256 checksum against the server- supplied X-Checksum header, and write it atomically to disk.

The target path defaults to the directory of the currently-running binary; override with --target. The default version is “latest”.

Uses --api-url, else the api-endpoint setting in the agent’s own config.yaml or $AMFELT_API_ENDPOINT, else the endpoint register remembered beside the identity. It never falls back to the built-in default: this command fetches an executable and writes it to disk, so it never guesses which host to fetch it from. --verify-only is the exception — it hashes the binary already present and never asks the network anything.

Examples:

  # Download the latest agent from the endpoint it registered with
  amfelt download
  # Download a specific version into /usr/local/bin, endpoint as a flag
  amfelt download --api-url "$AMFELT_API_ENDPOINT" --version 5.0.0 --target /usr/local/bin/amfelt
  # Print the sha256 of the current binary (do not download; no endpoint needed)
  amfelt download --verify-only
